I haven’t read the novel “The Fault In Our Stars,” that the upcoming film is based on, but I think I’m nearly as excited as my friends who have to see this film hit the big screen. From the previews, it looks like a warm, rich, deep, funny and all-too-real depiction of what happens when our reality doesn’t match up with the “norm.”
Have you read the book? I’m still up-in-the-air as to whether to read the book prior to seeing the film or wait until after? Do you prefer to read the book first or see the film?
I may just let this one ride, experience the film first and then naturally after I fall in love with the characters, opt to get to know them better by reading the novel. Thoughts?
While we are thinking… how about an extended clip…
Hazel and Gus are two teenagers who share an acerbic wit, a disdain for the conventional, and a love that sweeps them on a journey. Their relationship is all the more miraculous given that Hazel’s other constant companion is an oxygen tank, Gus jokes about his prosthetic leg, and they met and fell in love at a cancer support group.
Starring Shailene Woodley, Ansel Elgort, Willem Dafoe, Nat Wolff, Laura Dern, Sam Trammell, Mike Birbiglia, and Emily Peachey

I like to watch the movie first so I will be surprised at what happens. Then I read the book to see how it differed from the movie.
