Lunch Made Easy with Herb and Garlic Tuna Bolder Burger

Lunch Made Easy with Herb and Garlic Tuna Bolder Burger

I happen to be a huge fan of all things seafood and love tuna as a healthy lunch option, but let’s face it, a simple pouch of tuna for lunch can get a little boring.

So when Starkist jazzed up their Flavor Fresh Pouch line with Tuna Creations and Lunch-To-Go options in addition to their classic offerings, well, let’s just say that Charlie is a regular guest in my kitchen for lunchtime cooking!

Flavors like Starkist Tuna Creations® Zesty Lemon Pepper, Hickory Smoked, or Ready-Made Tuna Salad Lunch To-Go® Albacore, adding exciting flavors to any dish or simply for enjoying on their own.  Not only the flavors rev up your meal time options, but the fabulous recipes on the back inspire creative cooking options.

This week I tried the Bolder Burger recipe found on the back of a  Starkist Tuna Creations Herb & Garlic pouch.  With a few twists and a few minutes, I had a delicious, savory burger ready to enjoy.  The taste was far from typical “tuna-like,” more along the lines of a delicious fish cake from a market on the East Coast.

This is my modified version of the Herb and Garlic Tuna Bolder Burger (you can certainly use the original recipe on the package and have a fabulous meal, too.)  You could also easily make this into a gluten free option by swapping out a few ingredients with the gluten free versions.

Ingredients:

2 pouches of Starkist Tuna Creations Herb & Garlic
1/2 cup of Italian Style Bread Crumbs, divided
1/2 cup of Sharp Cheddar Cheese, shredded
2 tbsp of Creamy Caesar Salad Dressing
EVOO

Directions:

In a small mixing bowl, combine tuna, cheese, salad dressing and 1/4 cup of bread crumbs. Mix thoroughly, then shape and press into two burger patty shapes (or 4 patties if you prefer a mini-size burger.)

Pour a little EVOO in the bottom of a skillet, then add patties and cook over a medium heat for about 3-4 minutes per side.  The tuna patty should be lightly browned and heated through.  Remove from skillet.

Serve the patty with or without a bun, with or without sides or condiments, and enjoy!

Like any recipe we discuss on Rural Mom, the basics to success are using quality ingredients.  I’ve always found Starkist Tuna Pouches to deliver high-quality, tasty results and I love that there’s no liquid to drain in order to prepare a great signature sandwich or meal.
