Create a More Peaceful Garden

Your garden is one of the best places to retreat to when you want to get away from it all and relax, but often our gardens are not as tranquil as they could or should be, which makes doing that really hard.

The good news is, it’s actually really easy to create a more peaceful garden, and here are a few tips to help you do just that:

Declutter it

Decluttering is something you think about doing inside the house, but you can also declutter the garden, and you probably should if you want it to be as peaceful as possible. A cluttered space makes for a cluttered mind after all.

How do you declutter the garden? Start by putting away tools like garden forks and lawnmowers in the shed or garage Then, pull up any weeds, thin out any bushes that have overgrown, and basically just make sure there is not too much going on.

Create a More Peaceful Garden

Eliminate pests

Having some animals like birds, butterflies and maybe the occasional squirrel, can be nice as watching nature is always relaxing, but pests like mosquitos can make time spent in the garden miserable That’s why, if you want it to be peaceful as possible, you may need to call in ant or mosquito control or whatever to deal with the problem. This will ensure that you don’t end up itchy and annoyed after a nice day in the yard!

Attract wildlife

Attracting the good wildlife will give you something to watch as you enjoy a peaceful cup of coffee, and it can easily be achieved by putting out bird feeders or planting lots of wildflowers that bees and butterflies will be unable to resist. A water source can also encourage frogs and more exotic wildlife too.

Plant peaceful flowers

Some plants and flowers, lavender and chamomile, in particular, have relaxing properties. So, it makes sense to plant them in abundance if you want your garden to soothe your senses and help you to relax. Try to plant them close to where you were likely to sit. Then you can get the full scent and let it really work its magic on you.

Install a water feature

The sound of running water is one of the most relaxing sounds in the world. And it can also help to muffle less pleasing sounds like the roast of traffic in the distance. So, look at installing a small fountain in your garden if you have the space to do so.

Build  shelter

You should enjoy your garden any time of the year, no matter what the weather is doing. Building a shelter, whether it is an intricate summerhouse or a simple wooden bench with a canopy, ensures you can always get the heart-healing benefits of nature when you want them. Plus, you won’t have to worry about getting wet or overheating in the sun.

As you can see, creating a garden that is peaceful and relaxing is actually pretty simple. Enjoy it!
