For many years now, I dreamed of attending a Disney theme park Food and Wine Festival and thanks to the lovely folks at Disney and my partnership with the Mom Blog Tour Natural Products Expo West, I finally fulfilled this bucket list item. I’m happy to report it’s everything you dreamed it would be and then-some… so if a visit to Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival is on your list of wishes, be sure to make it a reality!
The wildly popular Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival is live this year through April 12, 2018. If you miss attending this year, you’ll have a chance again soon as it’s an annual event.
Flavors and fare at the festival are inspired by the Golden State. At the Festival Marketplaces, guests can sample a cornucopia of California-inspired small plates with fresh, California-grown ingredients like avocado, strawberries, fragrant citrus, peppers and artisanal cheese. Guests will also discover an array of locally brewed craft beers and wines from all over California.
The Festival Marketplace kiosks are located in California Adventure between Hollywood Land and the Golden Zephyr. Festival marketplaces offerings currently include: cheese, wine, artichokes, garlic, craft brews, sliders and wings, greens, citrus, strawberries, avocados, corn, peppers, LA food truck favorites, and beer cocktails.
My top favorite this year was the Avocado and Pepper Jack Petite Guacamole Burger – ridiculously delicious and a must-try!
I also think the Strawberry Patch dessert was very interesting. To give you a clue, it’s inspired by sushi and very tropical!
In addition to sampling local flavors, guests are treated to special experiences happening daily during the six-week event including family-friendly seminars, junior chef hands-on experiences, culinary demonstrations and even celebrity chef appearances. Guy Fieri made an appearance earlier in March and Robert Irvine is scheduled to be there March 30! Note: The celebrity events are separate VIP experiences that do require pre-registration and additional fees.)
From just the taste I had attending the event for one evening, I know that it’s one I want to return to to experience in full. Definitely worth visiting for a day or a night but if you have more time, do plan to spend a few days sampling the food and attending the special events.
