Supporting My Child’s Dreams with The Dream Bed

A great night’s sleep is so important and I’m thankful to The Dream Bed™ for sponsoring this important conversation!  Sleep can literally  make your dreams come true. I know that sounds a little bit silly, but if you think about it from a health perspective, the type of sleep you get makes all the difference in the world in your daily performance, habits, and even whether or not you can fight off germs.

How I'm Supporting My Child's Dreams with The Dream Bed #dreamitforward #makeadreamhappen

My kids are a great example of this. When they get a great night’s sleep, they’ll do really well in school the following day. If they don’t sleep well, they have problems focusing and don’t do as well on tests. If they don’t sleep well for a few nights in a row, inevitably they end up sick. If they’re sick, they miss school. If they miss school, they miss instruction that they needed to do the work. Then they get poor grades on the work which will also affect their report card grade and then their permanent school transcript!!! Whew!  Okay, so I went a little bit off the rails there, but the point is that sleeping well can either make you or break you academically, or in the case of an adult, career-wise.

Lack of good sleep can also affect you physically. Again, using my kids as examples, think about sports. They’re work hard, play hard kind of kids, but if they don’t get the rest they need, they don’t perform as well in sports. Their balance is off, they’re not running as fast, and they’re generally cranky toward their teammates. When they don’t play well, just like in the academic scenario above, it can be a domino effect that leads to big things down the road.

I think it’s especially important for developing minds and bodies to get the rest they need, and that’s why we were excited about The Original Dream Bed. I’m thoroughly enchanted with The Dream Bed for a many reasons, the first is the eco-friendly packaging. The company compresses it into a nice neat square box and then it’s shipped to you.

You receive the mattress, put it on your bed, break the air-tight seal, and it magically expands. Well, it’s not exactly magic, but it is a really cool process. Air fills the bed and it expands – pretty rapidly too. The best part is that there are no springs and excessive packing material to end up in a landfill later.  Watch it in action as we unbox ours:

After speeding through the unboxing process, my guys decided it was time for a rest!  I’m starting to think with this new bed around, this is how I will see them more often:

There are two different types of beds; the original Dream Bed or the cooling dream bed. The Original Dream Bed that we have offers terrific support and luxurious comfort with a a layer of memory foam that conforms to your body, and has a fast recovery factor. The premium latex design allows the mattress to have “breathabilty.”  This feature distributes body heat more evenly so that it dissipates and helps keep moisture away from the body, too.  A latex layer keeps the mattress firm.  All together these features provide a a very restful and comfortable experience! My sons (and I) think it’s the bomb-diggity of beds!

As if the eco-friendliness and comfort wasn’t enough, Dream Bed takes it one step further and becomes one of the companies I like to rave about. They pay it forward in a very big way. For every single mattress sold, they donate one to a participating partner to help people in need. That means that if you buy one in Kentucky, they might donate one to a homeless shelter in Lexington. There are numerous participating partners from all over in the program and all of that giving is based on the premise that “everyone deserves to dream”. I think Dream Beds says it best…”Our strategy is simple: Buy a dream, give a dream, dream it forward!”

I’ve said it a million times and I’ll say it a million times more. I love to support companies that give back. It just makes me feel so good to know that by giving my children a comfortable place to dream, I’m giving someone else a safe and comfortable place to dream too. I may as well go full-on cliché here: That’s the stuff dreams are made of.

I am still trying to get over how they fit it into such a small box, I love the idea of the mattress conforming to my shape and not give me pains in the morning.

It looks really comfortable. If we ever change beds, I’d love to try that out in a king size. Do they do king sizes?

This is so freakin’ cool! We’ll have to change my daughter’s mattress pretty soon and the Dream Bed sounds like a top contender. I also like to buy organic/green products whenever possible, it’s so rewarding!

I never heard of the Dream Bed until now but I already like it. If you could come with a follow-up post in the next couple of weeks it will be perfect. I’m curious to see how the mattress holds up and if it had that weird plastic smell most mattresses have.
