Simple and Delicious Gluten Free Snacking with TasteGuru

Did you know that you don’t have to have an actual allergy to gluten to be sensitive to it? In sensitive people, products containing gluten can cause very real problems.

Scientists believe that gluten sensitivity can cause things like lupus, schizophrenia, anemia, rheumatoid arthritis, anxiety, depression, and even cancer. Scary, isn’t it? As a result, many people choose to eliminate it from their diets, even if they don’t have Celiac disease. For me, personally, I have gluten sensitivity. (Note: As I’m not a medical professional, I encourage you to do your own research and speak to your physician regarding gluten intolerance) Due to thyroid problems, my body doesn’t digest many things as well as it should including gluten so I regularly try to avoid high gluten products and enjoy finding gluten free snacks to add to my diet.

The trouble is, gluten is found in so many foods, especially processed ones, that trying to avoid it is pretty difficult, especially if you’re an on-the-go type person seeking gluten free snacking option. Gluten-free and convenience usually don’t mingle. Until now.

TasteGuru offers a monthly subscription service of 7-10 gluten-free items. It’s really a pretty genius idea!

Each month, you get a box in the mail of tasty gluten-free foods to try, and if you love them, you can just find them in your local store or order them online to replenish your pantry. It’s also great for those of us who are thrifty because you never buy a box of things you don’t like. Each month they’re different, and you get lots of variety.

As far as cost goes, a monthly subscription to TasteGuru is very reasonable. You can order the box monthly for full price ($17.90 +$6 for shipping and handling), or save a few dollars by purchasing the 3 month, 6 month, or annual plan. The 6 month and annual plans come with bonus items as well.

Things included in these boxes vary, but a box can contain magazines, recipes, meal starters, jerky, health bars, on the go snacks, gluten-free spreads, nut butters, discount vouchers, and drink mixes. You can see in the pictures, the items I received in my sample box.  Basically, you get a little bit of everything. I really like that they include a recipe of the month so that you can make your own gluten-free awesomeness.

Maybe you’re not into gluten-free items yourself, but you know someone who would love to find this box of goodies in their mailbox every month. Subscription boxes make great gifts, and TasteGuru does have gift options. Go ahead and sign up a friend or two. It’s an awesome gift for those people you need to buy gifts for but have no idea what to buy because it keeps on giving, month after month.

TasteGuru really has made gluten-free living a little bit easier. What other products or ideas have you found helpful in helping you to eat a gluten-free diet?
