Save The Date! International Can It Forward Day on 8/16 #CanItForward

This year, National Can-It-Forward Day has gone International!  Expanding to South Africa, Australia and Canada, International Can-It-Forward Day 2014 takes place on Saturday, August 16.

Whether you are a canning aficionado or a canning novice, this celebration is the perfect time to get all your questions answered, check out the new innovations in canning and get your hands on some fabulous recipes.  We’ll be celebrating on Rural Mom all week with tips and fabulous giveaway opportunities.

One week from today, on Saturday August 16, Jarden Home Brands will host this year’s first ever International Can-It-Forward Day with special guest, renowned chef and Bravo’s Top Chef judge, Hugh Acheson!

In addition, home cooks will be able to connect with a variety of online and in-person activities, now expanded to Canada and Australia. New and experienced canners can participate in a live webcast, taking place at Brooklyn Borough Hall Farmers Market, filled with canning demos where viewer questions will be answered in real-time by Chef Acheson and other experts while they learn the most popular (and delicious) home canning recipes.

Twenty five farmers markets across the country will also be hosting Can-It-Forward Day celebrations! In addition to the canning demos, there will also be segments on crafting, herb gardening and the brand’s new drink-ware line.

You’ll also want to be sure to tune in to the attempt to caputure a Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest Mason Jar Mosaic, which should be super fun to see!

What a great idea for a fun celebration! We have a blackberry bush that has gone wild. It’s really amazing how well it produced this year. We need to can some blackberry jam.

I love canning and I’ve always wanted to make my own preserves. I imagine that I would stack them up in the pantry for the kids like I used to see on Little House on the Prairie. 🙂
