Easy to make for brunches or personal enjoyment, this is also a terrific gift for any coffee lover on your holiday shopping list. For the best end result, the base for your custom holiday morning coffee mix should be a medium to full-bodied, smooth coffee like Gevalia House Blend Medium Dark Coffee.

Beginning with a robust, rich silky-smooth coffee like Gevalia will enhance the added flavors, ensuring you wind up with a fabulous cup of coffee!

Holiday Morning Vanilla Spice Coffee

2 ounces Gevalia House Blend Medium/Dark Coffee, ground
2 vanilla beans, scraped
1 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
1 teaspoon nutmeg, ground
1/2 teaspoon ginger, ground

In a small mixing bowl, gently stir coffee, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger until mixed.

Split (cut) vanilla beans length-wise.  Using the tip of a small knife scrape the seeds from the beans into the coffee.  Gently mix vanilla beans into the coffee until fully incorporated.

Spoon coffee back into the coffee bag or into a quart size jar for personal consumption or use for parties.  Seal and store in a cool, dark place.

For gifting, spoon coffee into pint size jars.  Seal the jars and decorate the jar with ribbon, gift tags, stickers or other embellishments of your choice.

Coffee may be brewed in the same manner you would typically brew your coffee.

Kitchen notes:  The longer the coffee sits with the spices, the more the spice flavors will be absorbed by the ground coffee beans.  Ideally though, consume coffee within 2 weeks to ensure the freshness of the ground coffee.

With pure vanilla bean and ground spices, this coffee needs no other additions.  You can certainly add cream or a little sugar to suit your tastes, but do try to savor a sip without doing so first.  You may be delightfully surprised to find you enjoy the rich flavors without additives.
