Trash-to-Treasure Papermaking #DIY

I’m always seeking new ways to recycle paper and certainly always looking for new products to use for crafts, so when I found Trash-to-Treasure Papermaking: Make Your Own Recycled Paper from Newspapers & Magazines, Can & Bottle Labels, Disgarded Gift Wrap, Old Phone Books, Junk Mail, Comic Books, and More – naturally, the green DIY spirit in me jumped for eco joy!

I thought paper making would be a difficult venture, but it turns out that many of the supplies you need are already at hand such as a ruler, sponge, iron, and a blender.  The guide addresses every tool needed and how to use common objects or create your own items, such as a paper press, to complete the process.  There’s even a section on Tin Can Paper Making, which is the first process I’ll be trying as our fall craft project this year.

With clear, easy-to-follow instruction, helpful illustrations, and pictures of step-by-step processes, Trash-to-Treasure Papermaking is a DIY-lovers dream guide to papermaking.  You’ll learn about plant fibers, supplies, techniques, texturing, paper casting, and a wealth of creative processes to create any recycled paper treasure you desire.

There’s also a wealth of craft projects included in the guide,so when you are finished making your recycled paper, you’ll find oodles of inspiration to create even more.  All of the craft ideas are great for using with standard recycling projects, too.  For example, the “Bookmarks” section inspired me to create recycled comic book strip bookmarks.

I’m tickled that Trash-to-Treasure Papermaking has made it to my rural bookshelf.  We are stockpiling all our paper this month, rather than taking it to the recycle center, to give the papermaking process a go soon.  Planning to use the first batch for gift wrap and tag embellisments this holiday season and I’d really like to try some of the ornament ideas and the paper-casting bowls that are detailed in the guide.

If you are looking for a comprehensive, gorgeous, inspiring, and clever guide for papermaking, you’ll find all that and much more.  A huge DIY thumbs up for Trash-to-Treasure Papermaking!
