Nature Celebration held April 13-14, 2012

As part of their Earth month festivities, Disney hosted a Kids and Nature Celebration recognizing students for their green work. During the event, leading conservation voices convened to discuss the importance of kids discovering nature.

Attendee Richard Louv, chairman and co-founder, Children & Nature Network shared his perspectives alongside other key peers such as Jane Goodall, founder of the Jane Goodall Institute, and M. Sanjayan, lead scientist at the Nature Conservancy.

“For years, Disney did this amazing thing and that is it brought nature into our homes,” said Sanjayan. “It brought it into our schools, into our classrooms, into our theaters and places where we lived. And now with the support of Disney, The Nature Conservancy is going to try and repay that favor and get kids out into nature in order to live, work, learn and play in nature, which is – after all – the ultimate magic kingdom.”

Jay Rasulo, senior executive vice president and CFO of The Walt Disney Company, and Disney Channel stars Ross Lynch and Laura Marano recognize the winning Disney Planet Challenge classrooms at the Disney Kids and Nature Celebration held April 13-14, 2012, at Walt Disney World Resort.
