Do you talk to your animals? I do! Though, unlike Dr. Dolittle, I don’t always understand what they are saying back.
The tale of Dr. Dolittle always fascinated me when I was young, so no surprise, I really looked forward to the new film DOLITTLE. And, okay, part of the attraction was also Robert Downey Jr., one of my favorite actors. The film did not disappoint!
DOLITTLE is truly charming family film. I felt like this is the fairy tale fashion this story should have always been celebrated. Not a complex plot but a fun adventure with some very lovable characters.
My teen sons agree (we saw it the theater together.) Just shared the experience, again, with my hubby at home he got a kick out the comedic moments peppered throughout the film. We both enjoyed Downey Jr.’s portrayal of Dr. Dolittle and felt he really embodies the character.

For extra fun, have your kids make up languages to use when talking to your family pet.
Or take turns coming up with gestures to use when talking to apes. You can make sort of a charades game of it by writing down common expressions and items on paper, then having each person draw one and act it out while the rest of the family guesses what they are communicating.
