It totally warms my heart to share with you all that my dear friend Pam’s new cookbook THE NEW SOUTHERN COOKBOOK is now available!  It’s simply bursting with awesome southern-style home cooking recipes for you to savor!

Mother-daughter duo Pam and Brittany Wattenbarger have raided their recipe box and local farmers’ market for this collection of classic and modern Southern food.

As someone who knows how difficult it is to re-create a favorite recipe from your childhood when there is no one around who actually recorded the recipe or remembers the ingredients, I really love having the chance to live vicariously through Pam and Brittany’s family stories and to experience a new level of appreciation for the past, present and future of Southern cooking.

It was also fun to learn that, though I’m a Northerner by birth, it seems I have a bit of Southern in our history of family favorite recipes.  Recipes like Honey Grilled Peaches, Black Bean Dip, and Tomato Basil Soup are already regular staples in our home.  But, there’s an abundance of new-to-me recipes like Chocolate Pie with Coconut Crust and Oven-Fried Cornmeal Pecan Catfish with Lemon Thyme Mayonnaise that I’m very eager to try.  Definitely a little something for everyone to enjoy!

I admit, I’m naturally a bit bias about this talented duo, but assure you that if you are looking for some authentic Southern recipes straight from a treasured family recipe file, this is one awesome cookbook to add to your Rural Mom kitchen!
