All very important elements when sending a special gift to your loved one.

What are the best flowers to give on Valentine's Day?

Some people look at Valentine’s Day as solely a day for lovers, dismissing it if they don’t have a significant other to celebrate with.  I like to look at Valentine’s Day as an opportunity to celebrate love in all its form, acknowledging the love I have for my kids, friends, family and all those who hold a special place in my heart.  Because of this, the greeting card shops certainly are happy I’m a customer this time of year, but the florist is, too!

One of my all time favorite Valentine’s Day (or any special occasion, for that matter) gifts to give is a flower bouquet or a lovely houseplant.  My love for nature’s brilliant offers is a passion I love to share with my loved ones… and unlike candy, I don’t have to worry about whether the gift recipient will enjoy it, they always do.  No calories involved, just sheer bliss from beautiful blooms!

Some of the most popular flower choices for Valentine’s Day gift giving are:

  • roses – the universal symbol of love
  • carnations – red ones symbolize love and admiration, white is symbolic of pure love, gift pink to your mother or your Galentines
  • tulips – known as a lovely declaration of love
  • lilies – symbolic of purity, passion and beauty
  • alstroemeria – traditionally known as the flower of friendship

Teleflora‘s Red Haute Bouquet is described as being  and arrangement to “fan the flames of passion this Valentines Day” and it certainly holds up to its promise. All of the photos you are seeing in this feature are live shots from my personal camera (a Sony Digital) of the blooms taken on the day they arrived.  Simply breathtaking!

The arrangement includes red roses, red spray roses, white alstroemeria, red carnations, red miniature carnations, dusty miller and lemon leaf arranged in a lovely glass lantern vase with delicate lace detail and a shimmering heart charm. I love that my arrangement had a mix of fresh flower in full bloom along with roses that were just getting ready to burst open with stunning color.  Also love that I’ll be able to re-use the lantern vase for summer floral arrangements from my backyard or as a candle holder on our deck.

One my favorite aspects of service is that Telefora sources from local florists, so you have a fabulous personal touch, not just a pre-packaged box of flowers that shows up on a doorstep.  I love knowing that I’m supporting local businesses and also that I have a local contact to work with should any challenges occur, like my recipient being out-of-town or not home during delivery times.

Teleflora’s new collection of 2016 Valentine’s Day bouquets, including the Teleflora‘s Red Haute Bouquet, makes expressing your one-of-a-kind love easy, beautiful and meaningful.  All of Teleflora’s sweet Valentine’s Day 2016 bouquets are available on Teleflora.com through Valentine’s Day.  For over 80 years, Teleflora has been a leader in the floral industry, delivering Valentine’s Day greetings to millions in the U.S. for good reason,  you can expect a gorgeous display!

These are beautiful flowers and that lantern vase? Gorgeous! I love to send (and receive) houseplants. If I know the recipient thinks they won’t properly care for a houseplant, or are worried the pets might chew on it, I’ll send a happy bouquet, which have to have Carnations. I love their scent.

I am so in love with the vase! Planning to get good use of it this summer. That’s a really awesome tip to think about whether the person will care for the plant properly! Carnations are always just so cheerful, aren’t they?
