When I was little, my brother taught me how to read, likely so I could join in his love of comic books (which I certainly did!) This wonderful experience, reading with him on our back-porch, instilled my life-long love of reading and is a childhood memory I truly treasure.
Vampirina At The Beach (Vampirina Ballerina Series) by Ann Marie Pace and illustrated by LeUyen Pham (Release: April 4th, 2017) is a book I know I would have loved to read as a child. It’s wonderfully illustrated, imaginative and celebratory of our unique differences. This is exactly the type of book I look forward to reading my granddaughter as I help her discover the joys of literature.

Who inspired your love of reading?
My aunt who is also my godmother inspired me to read when I was little. She would always read me stories when I went to visit her and now that she’s 89 years old, we chat each night and I share a short story with her.
My mother started my love of reading with Winnie the Pooh at night when I was little. She would read a chapter each night.
My dad did – he usually read to us every night before bed.
I don’t know because my mom was only literate as far as 8th grade. I guess it was just school
