6 Smart Tips for Treating Stubborn Stains!

We are deep in the midst of Spring farming and that also means that we’re deep in the midst of plenty of dirt and totally stubborn stains! I’ve learned a thing or two about stain removal over the years so I thought I’d share with you my favorite tips.  This stain-fighting conversation is brought to you today courtesy of my partnership with all® detergent.  All thoughts, ideas and experiences with tough stains are that of Rural Mom!

6 Smart Tips for Treating Stubborn Stains!

Take care of the stain ASAP. I know that’s not always possible, especially if you have little ones. Lots of times they come home from school with set in stains from lunch and there isn’t much you can do about it besides pre-treat and hope for the best.

Pretreat. Pretreat. Once the stain is washed and dried, your chances of it coming out are much less likely, so make sure you really take a good look at the clothes before you wash them. Check collars and armpits for sweat stains, knees for grass stains, and fronts of clothing for food stains.

Use the hottest water you can for your fabric. Hot water will get the stains out better than cold water will.

Check to see that the stain is gone before putting the clothing into the dryer. If not, pretreat and launder again. A hot dryer will set the stain in more.

Different stains require different treatment. For example, spraying hairspray on ink marks will often get the stain out. For red wine, use salt. For baby food, the hand sanitizer you already carry in your purse is the perfect pre-treat. You can find out more tips and tricks for specific stain removal from the all website.

Use a good stain-fighting detergent. You need a detergent that works and plays as hard as you do. all Powercore pacs are a great option. They’re a liquid and a powder detergent combined into one convenient little pac. All you have to do is throw one or two into the washing drum before you add the clothes, and the detergent does the work for you. I love the convenience!

The Powercore pacs come in three varieties – all® POWERCORE™ PACS OXI, all® POWERCORE™ PACS Plus RemovesTough Odors, and all® POWERCORE™
PACS Plus Restores Whites & Protects Colors
. I’ve found a use for each of them in my home. The odor removing variety is especially helpful when you’ve got a house full of stinky boys, and the formula for whites really does restore those white T-shirts to a brighter state.  For my own laundry, I use the Oxi formula. It keeps the whites white and the colors bright, and I’m usually pretty good about knowing where my own stains are to pretreat them!

These are great tips! I can’t tell you how many times I didn’t realize the stain wasn’t gone until it came out of the dryer, and it was too late. All stain treating products are not created equally. I’ll have to give this one a try!
