Cracked Black Pepper Turkey & Cheddar Bavarian Melt Recipe

Cracked Black Pepper Turkey & Cheddar Bavarian Melt #Recipe #DeliFreshBOLD #spon
Thanks to a little inspiration from Oscar Mayer, I’m taking my lunchtime sandwich routine from ordinary to BOLD!  This sponsored post was written while participating in my partnership with Oscar Mayer and One2One Network, but as always, all opinions are my own. I received
Deli Fresh BOLD coupons and other related items from Oscar Mayer/Kraft Foods.

When the kids are at school, lunch is the one meal I often neglect to plan and often wind up rushing to whip something together or simply slap together a (boring) sandwich.  It gets the job done, but who likes having a yawn-fest on their lunch plate?

I’d much rather have a fresh gourmet option, like those I crave from my favorite deli shop that serves up crazy-good subs and melts.  It’s really not that they do anything spectacular, they are using the same deli-style meats I prefer, it’s all in the way it’s seasoned and dressed up.

So why not duplicate the same simple efforts at home? The new DeliFresh Bold sandwich meat selection from Oscar Mayer, has a terrific base to start from and the second I saw the Cracked Black Pepper Turkey Breast, I was inspired to re-create one of my all-time favorites, a Bavarian-style melt.

My husband, who was home for lunch on this particular day, was thrilled I was not just slapping turkey on bread and calling it a day! Though, truly, there are no difficult steps involved in taking your sandwich from that ordinary stand-by to a BOLD extra-ordinary lunchtime treat.

Building a Bold Cracked Black Pepper Turkey & Cheddar Bavarian Melt

Step 1: Gather your ingredients:

Bavarian Pretzel Sandwich Rolls

Sharp Cheddar Cheese, sliced
German-style mustard (whole grain or Bavarian sweet styles work well.)
Tomato, sliced
Leaf Lettuce

Step 2:  Heat things up!

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (or use a toaster oven.)

Place the bottom of your Bavarian roll(s) on a cookie sheet.  Add a layer or two of Oscar Mayer DeliFresh Bold Cracked Pepper Turkey – or stack and pile it high, if preferred.   Cover turkey with a single layer of cheddar cheese.

Place turkey melt in oven.  Bake for 10 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and browned.  Remove from oven, set aside.

Optionally:  If you want the top half of the roll to be warmed, too.  Place it in the oven for 2-3 minutes prior to removing the turkey melt.

Step 3.  Bring on the embellishments!

Slather a layer of German mustard on the inside of the top half of your Bavarian roll.  Pile on the tomato and lettuce fix’ns as desired and enjoy the feast!

The new flavors in the Oscar Mayer DeliFresh lineup include:

  • Italian Style Herb Turkey Breast

  • Maple Honey Ham
  • Chipotle Season Chicken Breast

I’m thinking my next creation will be an Italian Pesto Melt as the Oscar Mayer DeliFresh Italian Style Herb Turkey Breast has certainly caught my attention!

It’s also worth mentioning that all of these new DeliFresh meats contains no artificial preservatives, no artificial flavors and are gluten free.

That looks pretty good but my kids won’t eat the tomato.

We love Oscar Meyer Deli meats but haven’t tried their new flavors yet. Your sandwich looks amazing! This could jazz up soup and sandwich dinner nights too.
