Select the Best Pillow for Your Sweet Dreams

We have a resident pillow aficionado in our home.  Pillows of all shapes and sizes can generally be found around him when he’s lounging and you best believe when a new one enters our home, he’ll zero in on it like a hummingbird to sugar.

If it’s time to update our linens, we can certainly count on our little guy to be a tester, voicing his opinions loud and clear.

His basic gauge for pillow excellence?  Solely determined by cuddle factor. Soft and huggable, then it’s a sure-fire win!
I have to agree his measurement is certainly a great basis to start with. A fluffier pillow is not just great for snuggling, it happens to offer superior cushioning and much better support than dreary old lifeless ones.

But if you’re like me, you’d like to consider just a smidge more before settling on the right pillow to ensure a good night’s sleep.  Options like quality of fibers, pillow fill, and if the pillow is suited for your sleeping position are all as important as the fluffy factor.

My son happens to be mainly a side sleeper, so a slightly thick but soft pillow is going to offer him a good option for neck and head support.  On the other hand, my husband is a back sleeper, so more fluff and thickness to help reduce snoring can be a good option. For me, temperature gauge is a must-consider since I’ve recently entered the peri-menopausal stage.

Popular pillow fillers are down, synthetic blends, and gel.  All have properties that affect feeling, cleaning, price and durability.  Natural goose down pillows are on top of the luxury scale – if you’ve ever slept with down bedding, it’s a softness compared to no other – and synthetic blends will generally be the least expensive and machine washable.

DownLinens, expert retailer of high quality down and alternative bedding products, takes a lot of the guesswork out of pillow selection with a handy chart to help you decide what pillows will be right your family.  As no two of us sleep the same, the meter system (http://www.downlinens.com/pages/our-badgesis designed to find product based on individual needs.

We’re currently refreshing our pillow linens with Deluxe Down Pillows from DownLinens. As you can see, they’ve totally passed my son’s cuddle-worthy test.  (In fact, I’m not sure if I’m going to get him to give them up any time soon…)

They score high with my requirements, too.  This white goose down pillow covered with a 100 percent cotton cover offers a deliriously soft and super cushy experience.  It’s the sort of pillow that makes you go “ahhhhhh…” when you sink into the comfort and the cares and troubles of the day quickly fade away.

A 550 Fill Power (see meter system reference above,) means the fluff factor is crazy-high and the temperature is cool.  Qualities I can certainly well appreciate.

I also like that it’s hypo-allergenic and that it has a zippered pillow cover, making it easy to remove for cleaning.

I like my pillows just like your son does, soft and huggable. And I’m also a side sleeper. Those pillows look really nice.

Ohhh they look SOOOOO comfy… I’m in the market for new pillows, my back hurts with my old ones; I grew up with down pillows and love them, thinking to go back to them. Great review and LOVED the pictures… your son is too cute (Don’t need to tell him that… don’t want him to be embarrassed ..lol)
