How To Make Your Guy Feel Just Like Superman on Father’s Day #SeeSteelFirst

Rural Dad is certainly the Superman in our home, along with being the fix-it man, the dirty jobs guy, the I’ll-chase-the-chickens-around-the-yard-to-get-them-in-the-pen man, and the rock of our family that holds it all together even when mom occasionally flakes out (unless, of course, he’s sick, then he’s just like any other child in our house… well, every superhero has a weakness…)

As every Superman deserves recognition, Father’s Day is prime time to recognize and pay tribute to our household hero.  We’ve drummed up some fun ways to ensure Rural Day feels like Superman on his special day.  Hope you find some inspiration here to create a extraordinary day worthy of your Man of Steel:

Reward His Heroism.  Your Metropolis man needs a little reminder now and then of how much you all appreciate his never-ending protection of your brood.  Have the kids create award certificates for the things they appreciate and toss in a few of your own, then present them on Father’s Day with ceremonial flair, complete with lots of clapping, and maybe a few streamers, too.

If you have little ones and want to go bigger, create a parade to go along with the certificate presentation.  Have the kids decorate their bikes or wagons, dress up and lead a procession around the yard.

Make Your Home a Fortress. Every Superman needs a Fortress of Solitude aka a giant, secret palace he can escape stress and just be himself.  Plump the pillows on the couch, surround it with all the things your guy loves (tv remote, snacks, game controller and so on,) and then give him a little space to rest when he pleases throughout the day (or weekend.)

Hide The Kryptonite.  What sets your super guy into a tailspin of misery?  Feuding kids, not enough socks in the sock drawer, having to take out the trash, or finding the last of his favorite black walnut ice cream has disappeared?  Chat with the kids ahead of time and engage their support, take care of the chores the day before, mate the socks, stock the fridge – whatever it is, try to make the radioactive baggage go away for at least one day.

Walmart Man of Steel Prescreening Tickets

Treat Him To a Rockstar Event.  Walmart has a ground-breaking, first of its kind offer of exclusive pre-screening tickets for Man of Steel on June 13th.  Tickets can be purchased at any Walmart in the Electronics Department and include an exclusive digital comic book written by David S. Goyer, writer of Man of Steel, as well as an exclusive opportunity to pre-order an HD digital download or Blu-Ray copy of the film.

This is a gift of epic proportions!  The only problem I foresee in our home is my pre-teen and teen-age boys are going to fight to get a peek at the comic book before dad can even fully unwrap it.  In addition to being big fans of our Rural Dad Superman, the boys are huge fans of the Kryptonian comic book version (as admittedly, am I.)

The pre-screening will be shown at specified theaters at 7 p.m., July 13- making it a perfect family event for Father’s Day or a great way to kick off the summer.  For us, it will be the absolute super finale to our Superman Father’s Day celebration.

Before you get started on creating your Superman Father’s Day, check out this amazing trailer for a cool sneak peek of the film:

We have a photo of my husband in a SuperBaby outfit when he was a toddler. It’s so adorable. We similarly dressed our baby up as SuperBaby when he was born. We get him a new SuperBaby outfit every year. He’s finally at the age where he the pajamas come with a cape! We can’t wait to check out this movie!

Oh, that is funny! Your husband is the chase the chickens guy and mine is the chase the sheep guy. They are easier to round up than chickens though. Great ideas!

LOL, my husband already thinks he’s Superman so I’m not sure he needs any reassurance. These are some great tips, though, for making men feel special.
