American #Craft Week Essay Contest

In addition to a $500 gift certificate to the winner’s favorite
craft gallery or artist’s studio participating in this
year’s ACW celebration, the first place winner will also
receive a beautiful, hand-carved sculpture,
“Birds on the Branch,” by the Brasstown Carvers.

ACW has announced its third annual Essay Contest. This year’s essay topic focuses on traditional craft: If you could go to dinner with any traditional American craft artist, living or deceased, who would it be? And what would you like to talk about?

The prize for first place is a $500 gift certificate to the winner’s favorite craft gallery or artist’s studio participating in this year’s ACW celebration. The second-place winner will receive My Journey to Appalachia, a book detailing the story of Ellie Lambert’s life in Brasstown, N.C. The third-place winner will receive the DVD Sing Behind the Plow, a look at Appalachian people and their folk traditions.
