Rural Mom is pleased to welcome Ellen from Confessions of an Overworked Mom to share her views Stonyfield Organic Yogurt:
Finding healthy snacks that the kids enjoy eating isn’t as easy as you’d think. When I find something that the kids ask for repeatedly AND it’s good for you, I know I’ve got a keeper. My kids love yogurt but I don’t plan on giving them just any yogurt. I don’t like high fructose corn syrup, artificial sweeteners or artificial colors in the yogurt I buy. I want it to be like the yogurt I make when I have time to make it. I prefer the yogurt I buy is organic because then I have no need to worry about what else has been added to it.
Stonyfield Organic yogurt is located in Londonderry, NH so it’s actually fairly close to me in rural Vermont. They have a huge variety of different types of yogurts available so you’re sure to find your favorite. If you’re a mom of a baby or toddler, you’ll be pleased to know that they have yogurts made especially for them. YoBaby is intended for babies aged 12 to 24 months and combines vegetables and fruits with yogurt. YoToddler is made for toddlers aged one to three years. YoToddler contains the same delicious whole-milk yogurt they put into YoBaby because toddlers still need whole milk for proper brain development, right up to age 2.
If your children a little older, Stonyfield has YoKid for children aged two to six years old. YoKids includes fun flavors your children will enjoy and also a Squeezers line that kids will enjoy being able to squeeze the yogurt out of a tube. I know my 14 year old still enjoys this one. They even have a YoKids Greek yogurt available now. Stonyfield also has yogurt for adults including their Greek Oikos yogurt, soy yogurt, fat free, low fat, whole milk, smoothies, organic activia, and frozen yogurts.
We’ve been eating Stonyfield yogurt for years but I’ve only recently had the chance to try the children’s varieties of yogurt. I picked up a box of the 4 Berry/4 Cherry flavor YoKids Squeezers that are made with organic lowfat yogurt. There’s no high fructose corn syrup and no artificial ingredients. It contains 6 live active cultures and is a good source of calcium and vitamin D. My son loves the flavor and squeezing the yogurt from the tubes.
We also had a chance to try the YoKids Greek yogurt in the strawberry flavor. This one was hard to find for me and it took me 3 stores before I finally found it. I’m glad I searched for it though because it’s by far one of my favorites. Sometimes Greek yogurt can be a bit tart but this is nice and creamy and mild so kids are sure to enjoy it. Like the other Stonyfield products, it’s organic, contains no artificial ingredients or high fructose corn syrup. It’s even packed with protein!
Stonyfield yogurts remain one of my favorite organic yogurts!
